Set employees up for success!

You’re doing it. You’ve been in #business for a few years and though it was a rough start; you’re #thriving now and running your dream business full time. But now you’ve got a problem, albeit a good one. You are SWAMPED with work! Your list of #administrative tasks to do just keeps getting longer and longer as your client list grows and you can no longer keep up. You need to #hire staff. You interview some great candidates and you’ve found the right one. They passed the #backgroundcheck with flying colors and have all the skills you wanted. Now how do you set them up to do a good job without you having to micro manage? Any good #employee #onboarding system will have a #training portion so that you can define and implement your business #culture and #expectations of anyone who comes to work for you. The following are the topics that your #employeetraining should cover:

Hours

What time should your new employee come in everyday? How long do they have for lunch? Let your employee know what the time limits and expectations are ahead of time so you’re not sitting in your office at 830 am wondering where they are.

Dress Code

You would be surprised what people think is appropriate work attire. Let your employee know ahead of time what the in office #dresscode is. The last thing you want is your brand new employee showing up in denim cut off shorts and a ripped t-shirt. Or maybe you do?

Parking Rules

One of the most frustrating things to me is trying to figure out where to park on your first day of work. Let your new employee know if there is private parking or any particular #parking rules for where your business is located. If you are in a major metropolitan area, let them know the #publictransportation options as well.

Job Description

Yes you described the job when you posted it but that is only the beginning. Let your new employee know if there are particular ways you like things done. Maybe write them an employee #welcomeletter to go over the particulars of their position and how they fit in your company.
